State Farm Insurance called today and gave me the news I dreaded. My beloved Passat that had served me well so many years was totaled. They gave me a above average price because I had kept the baby in such nice condition. But that is no substitute for a good car and the memories and dare I say feelings I had for a very reliable car.The Passat like my memories of it will now fade away. The car’s demise feeds my melancholy mood towards the loss and it will last over the years as the sentimentality for what was grows. I’m sure my next vehicle will serve me well but it can never replace my Passat. And so now I close humming that old tune by Dan Mclean.…

Ride your bike to the BART station. You won’t regret it.
I’m actually considering it. However I’m a bit scared of the traffic as the most direct way to the BART (2.1 miles) use major streets (Hesperian and Lewelling).
I may drop over dead if I hear and see you commuting on your bicycle. My GOD that’s over 4 miles a day!
