Working in a large health care environment it is easy to think that the hospital, clinic, what have you is the center of care. Indeed in my own thinking I often think that while care starts at the home it inevitably ends up at some medical center whether that be real or virtual (i.e call center, health 2.0 and etc.).  I ran across this fascinating quote and wanted to share it. It really hits the nail on the head.
“The medical/industrial complex is not the center of care, just the center of cost accounting. The center of care, the provider of care 99% of the time, is the patient. Let’s ask them what works.” — Paulanne Balch, MD
Brilliant! I could not have said it better myself.
